The Surabaya band who's now based in Jakarta, has signed a new contract with EMI Music International Hong Kong -- Dewa's third label in their 12 years of recording career. The new contract takes effect this January 2006.To kick off this milestone, Dewa will be releasing their album Republik Cinta in two versions -- one for the Indonesian market and the other for the regional market. The first single titled "Laskar Cinta" has been distributed to 150 radio stations in Indonesia.
Besides Dewa's 10 new songs in the album, there's also a recording of "I Want To Break Free," a cover originally sang and written by the legendary band, Queen.
Republik Cinta is also the very first album where other band members take a share of of the creative pie. Guitarist Andra wrote and arranged a song titled "Selimut Hati," while vocalist Once composed an English song "Live On." Frontman Ahmad Dhani also collaborated with song composer Bebi Romeo for "Flower In The Desert."
Republik Cinta will be released in the Asian market in the middle of this month.
